01
Pricing
How much does a website cost?
A one-page site starts at £249, and each extra page is £40. Add only the extras you need, such as a contact form, online booking or a shop. The price builder on the pricing page adds it all up as you go, and the quote I send is a fixed price.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. The quoted price is the price you pay. The only ongoing costs are the optional care plan, from £39 a month, and your domain name renewal, which you pay to the registrar.
What does “Subscribe” mean?
Instead of paying the build up front, you spread it over 12 monthly instalments. The build price plus 15% is divided into 12 equal payments, alongside your monthly care plan. A one-page site works out at about £24 a month for 12 months. After that, only the care plan remains.
Do I have to take a care plan?
If you pay once, no. If you subscribe, a care plan is included while the build is being paid off. Care plans cover hosting, security updates, backups and a set amount of changes each month.
Is VAT included?
Prices are shown before any VAT. If VAT applies to your quote, it is shown separately so you can see exactly what you pay.
02
Ownership and leaving
Who owns my website?
You do, once the build is paid for in full. That includes the design, your content, the code written for you and your domain name, which is registered in your name.
What if I cancel while I am subscribed?
You can leave at any time. You pay the remaining build instalments as one balance, and then everything is yours to take. For example, leaving a one-page site after the first month leaves £264. There is no handover fee for subscribers.
Can I move my site to another host?
Yes. I will give you the files and help you move it. If you paid once and have been on a care plan for 12 months or more, it is free. Otherwise there is a one-off £99 handover fee.
What if I stop my care plan?
You can cancel with 30 days’ notice. If you subscribed, the care plan runs for the first year while the build is paid, or until you settle the balance. The site stays yours, but without the plan I no longer host or look after it, so you would either move it to your own host or choose a plan again.
03
Working together
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the site and how quickly we can go back and forth on content and feedback. A small site can be quick. I will give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
What do I need to provide?
Your text, photos and logo if you have them, plus any brand colours or sites you like. If you are missing something, say so and we will work out the simplest way to fill the gap.
Do you write the content for me?
I focus on design and build, so the words and photos come from you. I will help you shape and tidy them so they fit the layout and read clearly.
Can I ask for changes while you build it?
Yes. Reasonable rounds of revisions are included while I build the site. If you ask for something outside what we agreed, I will tell you the cost before I do it.
Can you look at my current website first?
Yes. The free site check is a no-obligation review of your existing site. I look at speed, mobile, basic SEO and how easy it is to contact you, then email you a short summary of what I would fix first.
Can we talk first?
Yes. The first conversation is free and there is no obligation. Use the contact form or email me and I will reply personally.
04
The website itself
What do you build with?
Sites are built in Next.js and Tailwind for speed and reliability. There is no page-builder bloat, so pages load quickly and score well on Google’s performance checks.
Do you use AI to build sites?
Yes. I use AI tools throughout design and build, which is how I can turn sites around quickly, take on more projects and help keep the cost down for you. I plan each site, review everything the tools produce, test it across devices and sign it off myself before it goes live. You are dealing with me, and I am responsible for the result.
Will it work on phones?
Yes. Every site is designed for phones first and tested across devices and browsers before launch.
Will my site show up on Google?
Each site is built with the technical SEO basics in place: clean structure, fast pages and the right metadata. The local SEO extra also sets up your Google Business Profile so you show up in your area. Rankings depend on many things, so I cannot promise a position.
How do I make changes after launch?
Send me what you want changed and I will do it, using the hours included in your care plan. For anything bigger, I will quote first. The blog setup extra is also easy to edit yourself.
Do you do online shops and booking?
Yes, as extras. An online shop with up to 10 products and card payments is £199, and online booking with calendar and reminders is £59.
05
Where and who
Where are you based?
In Pucklechurch, South Gloucestershire. I work with businesses in South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area, and with businesses anywhere in the UK by email and video call. There is a list of the areas I cover on the Areas page.
Who will I be working with?
Me, Marc. Gray Gecko is a one-person studio, so you deal with the person building your site from the first message to the last.
